I Can Connect in Virginia!

iCanConnect Virginia is a free communications equipment program for the deaf-blind community!

iCanConnect Virginia provides No Cost communications technology—along with installation, training and support—to low-income, deaf-blind Virginia residents.Through this program, participants receive special equipment to help them make a phone call, send an e-mail, access the Internet and stay connected in today's world.

iCanConnect Virginia is administered by the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired (DBVI) in cooperation with the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH). To qualify for the program you must submit an application and meet certain eligibility requirements.

So who can benefit from iCanConnect Virginia? Here are some examples:

  • A recent college graduate who is deaf-blind and wants to use Monster.com to search for a job.
  • A young girl with combined hearing and vision loss who wants to use Skype to connect via sign language with her grandmother.
  • A senior citizen with hearing and vision loss who needs assistive technology to access Virginia Relay.
  • A man who has lost his sight and hearing as a result of aging and wants connect with friends and family via
    e-mail and Facebook.
